Our History

Bought by the Simmons family in 1985, Abbotswood was a much loved family home to 4 children, one of which had substantial additional needs (SEN). The home was developed into the day nursery in 1995 by mum, Abbotswood founder, Jenny Simmons, and was slowly extended. The nursery has consistently achieved an Ofsted ‘GOOD’ grading since it’s registration.

In 2016, Jenny Simmons retired, appointing youngest daughter Blue (Lou Simmons).

2020, the COVID-19 pandemic, brought challenges for every business across the globe. We reviewed the nursery operations and took steps to enhance and increase our offering.

This led us to opening our brand new preschool lodge in our grounds and expanding the nursery to include 4 age groups (Babies, Tweenies, Toddlers and preschool).
